6 Benefits of Arbitration (Pt. 1)
December 31, 2014
When legal disputes arise, the parties involved in these disputes may have some options as to how they will move forward to resolve them. One possibility can be to proceed with arbitration, which is a form of alternative dispute resolution that can obviate the need for trial.
In this blog series, we will point out some of the reasons that arbitration can be a beneficial method for resolving legal disputes. If you have questions regarding how arbitration may be advantageous for your legal dispute – or if you are ready to proceed with an experienced arbitrator, don’t hesitate to contact Arbitrator Linda Weimar. She has the experience, knowledge and integrity you can rely on to successfully resolve various types of legal disputes.
A Closer Look at Some of the Benefits of Arbitration
1 – Saving money
When compared to traditional litigation (i.e., resolving disputes in court), arbitration can be a significantly less expensive way to resolve disputes (depending, of course, on the nature of the dispute). One reason for this that, with arbitration, the dispute resolution process can proceed faster, so both parties’ legal fees can be substantially reduced.
2 – Saving time
Just as arbitration can save litigants money, it may also be able to save them a lot of time. In particular, with arbitration, the people involved in a dispute generally can:
- Set the schedule for the arbitration proceedings – In contrast, with litigation, the litigants are generally subject to the schedule of busy courts, which can mean that their case won’t be brought before the judge until weeks or months down the line.
- Get final decisions in their case sooner – Because arbitrators tend to be less overloaded than the court system, litigants proceeding with this method of dispute resolution can typically get judgments or final decisions in their cases much faster than they would have if they waited for their dispute to proceed through court.
